“We Are Still Here: The Anti-Doctrine of Discovery” Study | September 20 to November 1 | 9:00 AM
Many Christians have never heard of the “Doctrine of Discovery”, but its influence has shaped centuries of relationships between Indigenous peoples, governments, and churches. In this six-week study using the resources from the Justice Unbound organization, we will explore this history through Indigenous voices, Scripture, discussion, and reflection. Together, we will get a better understanding of a largely overlooked chapter of Christian history and consider what faithful listening, reconciliation, and action look like today. No prior knowledge is required, and each session can stand alone, so newcomers are welcome at any session. We will meet on Sunday mornings at 9 AM starting the Sunday after Kickoff Sunday: September 20 – November 1 (skipping the holiday weekend of Oct. 11).
Church Hayride | Saturday, October 17 | 4:00 to 6:00 PM | Northhill Orchard
Join us for a fall afternoon at Northhill Orchard, about fifteen minutes from church in Winfield. We take a tractor-pulled hayride around the property, then gather at the farm's campfire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. There is plenty to do before and after the ride: a corn maze, animals the children can pet and feed, a playground, a bounce house, and a basketball court.
Messy Church is sponsoring the afternoon, so there is no cost to attend. The church brings the hot dogs and marshmallows.
Please bring:
A lawn chair, if you would like one
Roasting sticks for the fire
Everyone is welcome, so bring your family, your friends, and your neighbors.
Please register by Sunday, October 11, so we have an accurate count for the farm.
